Ford Racing Turn Focus into Racecar

In redesigning the new Focus, Ford kept their, well...focus. It paid off, too. Not only does the new 2012 Ford Focus boast class-leading brakes, handling and powertrain. It offers extremely competitive fuel economy. The Ford SE, for example, delivers up to 40 mpg highway, when equipped with the SFE package.

Of course, in its standard form, the Ford Focus is still a far cry from a race car. But, given the car's top-notch design and performance, it's easy to understand why Ford Racing wanted to have their way with it...And that's exactly what they did. They tuned into a racer.

"...the design and functionality of the various vehicle systems have helped to develop a global technical specification for teams wanting to race the new Focus cost effectively," says Jost Capito, Director, Global Performance, Vehicles and Motorsports Business Development. "Ford Racing North America has taken this effort and developed a new [Ford] Focus ST-R and is a perfect example of how a great production car inspires a competitive race car for enthusiasts."1

Subtle tweaks to the exterior of the Ford Focus, make the ST-R seem more like a distant cousin than close relative. Further differentiating the two models is a roll cage, uprated brakes, track-tuned suspension and more aggressive 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

While obviously designed specifically for the track, the new Ford Focus ST-R appeals to all track enthusiasts, from pro-drivers to amateurs to fans. And, why wouldn't it? It's nimble, fast, and will be featured in a  host of race vents, here in the U.S.

If you're interested in seeing the fierce, new Ford Focus ST-R in action, be sure to stay tuned for details surrounding specific events, coming soon. Jerry's Ford Alexandria located at 6510 Little River Turnpike Alexandria, VA is dedicated to keeping you informed.
