A Reinvented 2011 Ford Explorer

When it came time to "reinvent" the SUV for 2011, engineers picked their brains, and the minds of customers, to get all the best into this vehicle. The Ford Explorer has been a staple for the American auto maker over two decades. It's also been one of the their selling models.

First off, there was the question of power - does Ford cut that as well as weight? Heck no! Options for the 2011 Explorer include a 3.5L V6, a 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder producing 237 horsepower, a V6 with 290 horsepower, and finally the EcoBoost V6 currently implemented in the Ford F-150.

There's also the issue of weight displacement. 2011's Ford Explorer is light for its seven-seater size. The vehicle is, in fact, about 1500 lbs less than the competition's.

Body styling is more flamboyant in 2011's Explorer. Designers seem to have taken angles and trim from the successful Ford Edge and retraced them for this vehicle.

Last, but not least, there's a great starting price range: $29,999 to 44,199 for an all equipped SUV. Not bad at all.
