2013 Will See the Ford Escape Smarter Than Ever

On the brink of the millennium, Ford fans anticipated the arrival of the 2001 Ford Escape. Now, 10-years and two-million units sold later, the Escape is one of the automaker's most popular models. In order to keep those good consumer vibes brewing, the Blue Oval concocted a perfect feature mixture for the 2013 model year.

Starting with power, owners have their pick of three different engines: a 2.5-liter with 171-hp and 171-lb./ft., a 1.6-liter with 173-hp and 177-lb./ft. and a 2.0-liter with 237-hp and 177-lb./ft. You may recognize the first of the three as it comes as a carryover from the current Ford Escape. The latter two engine options, however, are brand-new and equipped with EcoBoost technology which increases take-off speed while conserving fuel.

Moving on to features, the 2013 Escape variant will get the highly-innovative and unexpectedly convenient automatic liftgate technology. If you haven't already heard, the system allows users to open and close the vehicle's liftgate with a simple kick under the rear bumper. In addition, Escape owners will be able to take advantage of new parking technology, MyFord Touch, hill-start assist and a remote starter. Bringing safety up to par, Ford has equipped the model with an ample airbag supply, some of which adjust firmness based on occupant size.
